Creation of a dress, final project of my first year at ESMOD fashion school.

This dress marks the end of my first year of fashion school. My main inspiration was Lake Baikal in Siberia, which is a very important place for me, a dream to go there but above all a real source of daily inspiration.

My inspirations:

  • For the shape of the dress, I was inspired by the typical outfits of the inhabitants living around this lake, indeed with big sleeves and fabrics that can be worn well in freezing winter but also in summer.

  • For the dress cut-outs, I drew inspiration from the great designer Thierry Mugler. I've always been fascinated by the way he uses fabric to enhance a woman's body, so I decided to take inspiration from his work for this creation. The corset, the exaggerated hips, the flared neckline.

  • As for the pantone of the dress, as mentioned above, Lake Baikal is my inspiration, so I simply decided to recreate the water of the lake frozen in winter. Before cutting the dress, I dyed it with bleach to lighten the denim and with cotton to create circular effects to represent the frozen bubbles of the lake.
